Starnes, Charles Frederick

Charles Fredrick “Fred” Starnes of rural Waynetown, age 85, died Monday evening, June 1, in Veterans Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born east of Hillsboro, May 10, 1906, the son of Henry T. and Flora Temple Starnes. June 21, 1928, he married Gladys Colt, who survives. A 1916 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 1925 graduate of Central Normal College, he had retired in 1963 after teaching in area schools for many years. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Hillsboro American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star and of Crawfordsville Knights Templar. He attended Hillsboro United Methodist Church.

  Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ethel Dwiggins of Goshen, and a brother, Harry of Marion.
  Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Cemetery. – thanks to S
